Costco Set to Open First Mansfield Location in 2026

Major Retailer Brings Convenience and Economic Growth to Local Community

Mansfield residents are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first Costco Wholesale store, a development poised to enhance both convenience and economic vitality in the area.

The new warehouse, spanning approximately 157,000 square feet and featuring a large fuel station, will be situated at the northeast corner of Lone Star Road and FM 917, just off Texas 360.

Costco plans to invest over $25 million into the project, encompassing the construction of the warehouse and fuel center.

In support, the City of Mansfield has approved up to $8 million in performance-based incentives, including reimbursements for infrastructure and a portion of the sales tax generated by the site.

In return, Costco is expected to generate a minimum of $40 million in annual sales and commit to hiring locally, thereby supporting surrounding businesses through increased foot traffic.

Key milestones for the project include:

May 2025: The Mansfield City Council approved the incentive agreement, laying the groundwork for the store's arrival.

June 2025: City officials approved zoning changes to accommodate the development.

October 13, 2025: Construction is scheduled to begin.

May 21, 2026: The expected opening date for the store.

For Mansfield residents, this marks a significant convenience upgrade, as the nearest Costco is currently more than 20 miles away.

The new location will provide access to affordable bulk goods, pharmacy services, a tire center, and the warehouse chain’s signature food court.

City leaders view Costco’s arrival as a catalyst for further development along the corridor.

They anticipate increased sales tax revenue, job creation, and future retail and dining opportunities built around the anchor store.

This project is part of a larger trend of Costco expanding throughout Texas, reflecting strong consumer demand and regional growth.

In addition to Costco, Mansfield is experiencing a surge in development projects.

Notably, the city has partnered with Admiral Legacy Investments to develop the Mansfield Innovation Community (The MIC), a 240,000-square-foot office and innovation space set to break ground in Spring 2024, with Phase 1 opening by Summer 2025.

Furthermore, the city is collaborating with Stillwater Capital on The Reserve, a $1 billion mixed-use development featuring a new City Hall, a half-mile canal loop, and a six-acre lake, with construction slated to begin in the third quarter of 2025 and phased openings starting in 2027.

These developments underscore Mansfield’s commitment to fostering economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

As the city continues to attract major retailers and invest in innovative projects, the future looks promising for this vibrant community.
